I have Windows 7 Ultimate x64 RTM ( (which i upgraded from Vista ultimate X64) ) installed on my HP dv6000 with 160GB HDD, 3GB RAM and AMD Turion dual core. After the Windows 7 installation, everything worked fine until i installed the HUAWEI E170 fastlink modem, now the system at times just gives a blue screen and restarts ALSO, when i try safely removing the modem, it does not respond and the icon for the modem never highlights thereby making it impossible to connect. Please, i really do need help cos i'm so in love with this O.S. Note: Drivers on the Windows Update site are directly provided by hardware manufacturers.

For more details, please look at the first Sticky thread at the top of this forum. This will give you some guidelines. I would say that the connection manager is incompatible as installed and that is why you are receiving the message. Don't disturb any services settings. Have you tried from MTN. Is that the correct service provider?
It's a Vista app and may work. MTN Fastlink dashboard version for Vista. Did the Remote Access Connection Manager install via an installer application? If so, you may want to uninstall it from the programs list and try reinstalling using the troubleshoot compatibility method. Navigate to the location of the files>Right-click the installation file and select troubleshoot compatibility>it will detect issues for a short time>then select 'it worked in a previous version'>select the first item 'it worked in earlier versions.' Then >select a Vista version and install.
The other solution is to email/contact MTN and ask when Win 7 support will be available for that device or when another Win 7 compatible device will be available. It's not a generic device and it is the provider's responsibility to provide the necessary drivers/software. The problem with troubleshooting is that trouble shoots back.
